At Taos, Snowboarders Make Their Stand (New York Times)

They came, they shredded – and Taos survived!  Lots of good information in this New York Times story about where to stay, what to do, where to eat in and around Taos.

“….The snowboarding saga at Taos Ski Valley, New Mexico’s most formidable ski area, is a story that can be told in bumper stickers. There was the original and militant: “Taos, Quit Whining and Ski It.” In the 1990s, “Free Taos” stickers were plastered around town by disgruntled snowboarders. And the most recent sticker is this: “3-19-08: The Day Hell Froze Over; Ride Taos.” Diehards had long said snowboarding would only be tolerated under such an implausible circumstance.”
